Homemade Snickers cake - shortcrust pastry with caramel cream

Recently, people are increasingly leaning towards homemade cakes and sweets made with their own hands. Such desserts have a clear composition, and eating them is much more pleasant and safer. Today I propose to bake a homemade Snickers cake. This quick and easy cake recipe is suitable for both children's and adults' celebrations, and is also ideal for a simple friendly tea party. In terms of ingredients, it resembles a Snickers bar, however, there are no harmful E-Necks in it. 🙂 The taste and texture of the cake is so pleasant that you want to eat and eat it. The taste of the proposed sandy Snickers is not cloying, but delicate, with nutty and creamy notes. The ingredients for homemade Snickers will need the simplest ones, and my step-by-step recipe with a photo shows how to make a cake.

For sand dough:

  • unsalted butter - 180 grams;
  • sour cream (I have 15%) - 50 grams;
  • egg yolks - 4 pcs.;
  • wheat flour - 375 grams;
  • sugar - 40 grams;
  • vanillin (I have a flavor from Dr. Otker) - 5 drops;
  • baking powder - 1.5 tsp

Caramel butter layer:

  • boiled condensed milk - 380 grams (a whole can);
  • butter - 180 grams (1 pack)

Additionally:

  • peanuts - 300 grams (you must first grind a little into large crumbs);
  • milk chocolate - 1 bar (100 grams) + a little water.

We start preparing the dough by whisking the butter with sugar and flavoring.

When the butter turns white, stop the mixer, add the chilled yolks and beat further.

We spread the sour cream and turn on the mixer again.

Sift the flour together with the baking powder directly into the dough and mix. We do this first with a spoon, scooping up the oil mass from below, and then continue kneading with our hands.

We put the finished shortbread dough in a cold place (preferably in the freezer) for 25-30 minutes.

When the dough hardens, we take it out and divide it with a wet knife into 3 equal parts. We roll balls out of them, so that later it would be more convenient to work with them. We roll out cakes from them and put them to bake in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes.

Life hack: so that the cakes do not deform during baking, you can put them together with the baking sheet in the freezer for 10 minutes before baking.

While the cakes are in the oven, let's make the cream. Put cold butter and condensed milk into a bowl and beat at high speed. If the holiday is for an adult team, then you can add a glass of whiskey so that a special taste of Irish cream appears. Focusing on your taste, whiskey can be replaced with cognac, rum, amareto or other flavoring.

When the creamy mass becomes more airy and brightens, put it in the refrigerator.

Peanuts (can be any other nuts) fry and put in a blender to make large crumbs. If desired, you can also add trimming cakes there, which I did.

Assembling and decorating Snickers at home

After cooling, you can begin to form the cake. The scheme is simple: cake + cream + peanut crumbs. And so on until the cakes run out.

When the cake is assembled, let's start melting chocolate or preparing chocolate icing . I poured a little water into the crushed pieces of chocolate so that the consistency was thinner, and put them in the microwave turned on at high power for 30 seconds. Each housewife knows well the properties of her microwave oven, therefore, make sure that the chocolate does not burn out!!! Pour the finished chocolate sauce over our cake and put it in the refrigerator, preferably overnight. We need the cream to stabilize and the cake to be soaked in butter-caramel cream. Depending on the amount of melted chocolate, you can cover the dessert with a continuous layer or simply make an arbitrary pattern over the top layer with icing.

The simplicity of preparation and the availability of ingredients allows every housewife to prepare this dessert. My guests were delighted and admitted that this is one of the best combinations of ingredients they have ever tried.

Concluding the step-by-step recipe with a photo, I want to note that there is another cooking option - with more airy protein cakes. You can make such a Snickers cake with meringue using the video recipe, which is posted on YouTube on the “I am TORTodel” channel. The ingredients in both versions are similar, but the meringue Snickers has, in my opinion, a less pronounced taste and a different texture.

I recommend serving homemade Snickers cake with freshly brewed coffee or unsweetened tea. The bitterness of such drinks pleasantly sets off the sweet taste of the dessert and each subsequent bite remains as pleasantly impressive as the first bite.
