Delicious homemade Napoleon cake has not only a classic recipe, but also a huge number of its variations. However, one thing is undeniable that no matter what the recipe is, but an unforgettable layer cake with vanilla flavor is, for many of us, one of our favorite desserts! I propose to cook with me a delicious Napoleon cake according to a recipe that has long been used at my home. My family confidently declares that this is the most delicious cake in the world. Detailed step-by-step photos will complement my story and, I hope, will help you in cooking.
To prepare puff pastry, you need to have:
300 gr margarine;
7 grams of salt;
150 grams of water;
500 gr flour.
For custard you need to have:
1 cup of sugar;
1 glass of flour;
3 eggs;
500 ml of milk;
vanilla.
How to make Napoleon Cake.
To knead puff pastry, combine water with salt and stir until the latter is completely dissolved and combine with flour.
Then, stir in a large amount of flour, the dough should become tight.
Roll out the cake, coat it with 100 grams of margarine. Margarine must first be held to soften in the kitchen at room temperature.
We wrap the dough with a roll and set aside for 10 minutes in the refrigerator, and preferably in the freezer.
The procedure should be repeated twice more with the rest of the margarine. The finished dough in the section is already with clearly defined layers, which is clearly visible in the photo.
We roll out thin cakes, put them in a mold or just on a baking sheet. Here, parchment paper or greasing the baking sheet with oil is not required, the cake is quite greasy and will not stick.
ATTENTION: so that the dough does not “swell” much, it must be pierced with a fork. How I do it - you can see in the photo.
Bake at 200 degrees for 15 minutes. The puff pastry should be a nice golden color.
If the cakes did not turn out the same - very good. We put all the scraps on a plate, from them we will make crumbs for powdering and decorating the cake.

How to make custard for Napoleon cake.
Add sugar and vanilla to flour and mix.
Then, add the eggs to the sugar and flour mixture.
Mix well without lumps.
Add milk gradually thinning the mixture.
We put on moderate heat, constantly interfere so that it does not stick to the bottom of the bowl.
The cream thickens - remove from heat and cool. Remember that the cooled custard will become even thicker. This should be taken into account when cooking and do not overexpose it on fire.
Lubricate the puff cakes with cream.
Sprinkle the top layer smeared with cream with crumbs.
For quick preparation of puff pastry, margarine is melted and poured with ice water. On this basis, the dough is kneaded and cakes are baked. All proportions of products are saved as in the recipe. But, nevertheless, it is better to work a little and the reward for the efforts will be a delicious Napoleon cake.
It will be more flaky, tender and airy than quick dough.
